CARE &
MAINTENANCE FOR YOUR NEW SOLARIS COUNTERTOPS
Most cleaners recommended for solid surface counter tops are
acceptable.
After cleaning, a quick coat of furniture polish will refresh
and protect the surface.
To remove hard water build up, use a mixture of vinegar and
water.
Avoid letting hot pans and harsh
chemicals come in contact with the surface.
Coasters are recommended to
prevent glass condensation rings and possible discoloration.
Ensure to use your cutting board
to protect the surface from cuts.

CARE &
MAINTENANCE FOR YOUR CULTURED MARBLE
WHAT ARE CULTURED MARBLE, CULTURED GRANITE
AND CULTURED ONYX?
Cultured Marble, Cultured Granite and Cultured Onyx, as their
names imply, have the look of genuine marble, granite or onyx.
Cultured marble, granite and onyx products are manufactured with
a high-gloss coating, called a “gel coat”, applied during the
manufacturing process, which becomes an integral part of the
cultured marble, granite or onyx product. Colorants may be added
to the polymer/filler matrix in a manner, which provides a
“veining” which mimics the appearance of natural products. The
polymer casting process yields a rock hard, durable product
which takes on the look and feel of the natural product.
Cultured marble, granite and onyx products easily meet
nationally recognized standards to resist water, heat, stains,
burns, chemicals and everyday wear and tear.
Cleaning of Cultured Marble
Removing stains from cultured marble should be easy if the
product had a quality “gel coat” finish correctly applied at the
time of manufacturing. Stain resistance is a great benefit of
“quality” cultured marble products. Stain resistance testing is
a part of most code requirements.
If the stain is tea, juice, or coffee, the stain should be
easily wiped up with a damp sponge and household cleaner, such
as Windex. Do not use an abrasive cleaner, as this will lightly
dull the smooth and shiny surface. The smooth surface makes the
cleaning process easier.
Maintenance of cultured marble products is enhanced if an
automotive is applied occasionally, usually twice a year.
If the area has a chemical stain such as fingernail polish
remover, which has been sitting on a covered area and stained
the countertop, try leaving the area uncovered for a period of
time. Sometimes the chemical will evaporate from the gel coat,
or contact the manufacturer for professional service options.
If the stain is from hard water or mineral deposits, then try
using a cleaner for removing iron, calcium, or other such
mineral deposits that are in your water supply. Most cleaning
chemicals will not damage the gel coat as long as extended or
prolonged standing of the chemicals is not allowed (be sure to
read warning labels).
Cleaning Instructions for Cultured Marble
1. Turpentine, denatured alcohol, or paint thinner will remove
paint, tar, and difficult stains from the surface. Do not use
turpentine or paint thinner on the hydrojets or plated
components – damage to the plastic coating may result.
2. Scrape the cultured marble surface with a wooden edge to
remove plaster. Do not use wire brushes or metal tools on any
part of the cultured marble surfaces.
3. Use liquid detergent to remove construction residue.
4. Liquid cleaning compounds (such as is used for cars) with a
light application of liquid wax or paste will restore dull
surfaces.
5. Clean plated Hydrojet surfaces with water only. Do not use
any ammonia bases or abrasive cleaners as this will deplate
Hydrojet plating and void the warranty on plated finishes.
Regular Cleaning
1. Because of mineral deposits and soap scum, it is important to
clean your cultured marble parts regularly.
2. For normal cleaning of marble surfaces, do not use abrasive
cleaners, steel wool, scouring pads, scrapers, or sandpaper on
any part of the surfaces. Do not use any cleaning product with a
solvent base.
3. Use non-acetone fingernail polish remover to dissolve
adhesives. Do not use polish remover or acetone on the hydrojet
or metal hardware
4. Clean under the jet faces by unscrewing the faceplates. (You
may also be able to clear obstructions by taking out the orifice
with a standard 9/16” socket.)
5. Purge system once a month to clean pipes with Calgonite or
whirlpool cleaner kit.
a) Fill tub with lukewarm water.
b) Add ½ to 1 cup of Calgonite depending on size of tub. Turn on
system for 10-15 minutes.
c) Empty water from bathtub.
d) Fill with lukewarm rinse water and run system for 10-15
minutes. Then drain system.
Caring for Cultured Marble Vanity Tops /
Tubs / Showers
1. Water temperatures exceeding 140 degrees may cause cracking
or crazing. (Temperatures above 140 degrees are dangerous to the
skin even for very brief moments)
2. Protect the surface of this cultured marble with regular
applications of paste wax or car wax.
3. Clean only with liquid cleaners of a non-abrasive type.
Example: Scratch Guard by Turtle Wax / 409 / etc.
4. To remove surface scratches, buff with a portable buffing
wheel and automotive type cleanser or rubbing compound.
